Tens of millions of waste water purifier filter where to go?

The author also does not know whether these replaced filter elements can be directly treated as domestic waste, so he asked the volunteers in charge of garbage classification in the community, but they could not confirm it. After searching on the Internet, the author found that there are different views on the garbage classification of water purifier filter elements. Some places think that the filter element should be disassembled. Its outer plastic shell is recyclable garbage, and its internal filler belongs to dry garbage or hazardous garbage respectively due to different impurities in the trapped water. Such as can only intercept large particles of impurities, colloidal PP cotton and adsorption activated carbon, should be classified as dry waste, and can intercept viruses, bacteria RO membrane should be classified as harmful waste. In some places, the filter element is divided into dry garbage without detailed requirements.
With the improvement of living conditions, people have higher and higher requirements for household water quality, and the use of water purifiers has become quite common. Relevant data show that in 2020, the annual sales volume of domestic water purifiers in China is about 19 million units, and the number of water purifiers in normal use exceeds 100 million. The author suggests from the following aspects to strengthen management.
One is to establish a professional recycling mechanism. At present, the classification of domestic waste is relatively extensive, and items with single composition and common in life are better classified. At present, most domestic waste is incinerated or landfilled, and items with a structure such as filter elements are not suitable for these two treatment methods, which requires a professional organization to disassemble and classify these items. All localities can refer to the recycling mechanism of new energy vehicle batteries, and encourage water purifier manufacturers to recycle the replaced filter elements and carry out professional treatment in terms of policies and funds. The commercial department can establish an old-for-new system as appropriate, such as users can exchange several replaced filter elements for a new filter element free of charge.
The second is to improve the efficiency of filter recycling. At present, the material of the filter element of the water purifier is mainly PP cotton filter element, activated carbon filter element and RO reverse osmosis membrane, which can be recycled. Water purifier manufacturers are often only responsible for their own brand of water purifier after-sales service, but the same brand of water purifier users are scattered, filter recycling storage cycle is long, the economic benefits of filter recycling is not obvious. Therefore, industry benchmarking companies with a strong sense of social responsibility can be selected to encourage these companies to fully recycle all brands of water purifier filter elements and concentrate on recycling, so as to achieve the purpose of ecological environment protection while improving the economic benefits of enterprise recycling.
Three is to increase publicity. After the implementation of garbage classification, more and more items similar to filter elements are produced in residents' lives. The relevant government functional departments need to further strengthen publicity according to the new situation and guide residents how to deal with these items scientifically and reasonably. At the same time, the after-sales service personnel of the water purifier are urged to improve the quality of after-sales service, and help users to professionally disassemble the filter element, so as to facilitate users to process according to the materials of different structures.
